  Case Study: Leicester High School for Girls

Leicester High School is an independent selective day school for girls aged 3 to 18, which is a member of the Girls' School Association (GSA).

It has a Christian Foundation open to girls of all faiths, or none. It has an outstanding academic record at A level and GCSE, and is one of the county’s top performing schools.

They had an existing website, developed in-school, but realised they needed to improve their image dramatically to attract both prospective students and their parents, as well as provide an ever evolving site for existing pupils to log in and keep up to date with current events.

The site was designed to attract both the young and old, and remain fresh and interesting rather than fusty and old fashioned.

Ever felt you're on your own running your e-commerce business? Want to understand how others do things, but don't know other like minded businesses in the area to bounce ideas from?

  Clients will gain greater project visibility with new Project Module

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving efficiency, client response times and quality control, we have commissioned Concentrix to develop a bespoke module for our existing Sage CRM system.

This substantial investment will help us manage our clients more effectively and give clients greater visibility into the status of their projects.

The module also features a Client Project Portal, which will allow clients to securely login to our system and view their in-progress projects. Clients will be able to provide feedback, check concept designs, upload content and signoff on key parts of the project.

Concentrix were responsible in originally supplying Sage CRM to us, which has since proved to be a resounding success in organising and storing client information. The new module will be developed as an integral part to Sage CRM maintaining all client management under one system.

This exciting new system is scheduled for launch 8th September – more details to follow!

The importance of good web design

Fussy dog that I am, I always appreciate good design in websites.

It always amazes me in this day and age that the web design community as a whole has never really caught up with its traditional print and broadcast design cousins for quality, mature design.

I always reign with a firm hand over here, so you can expect all our design work to be of the highest standard, naturally.

But what is effective design? It isn't simply how attractive it is to look at. Does it communicate effectively to your clients? Many websites are lovingly created by designers who want their work to look as good as possible – but not necessarily good for you – good for their portfolio more like!

A professional website designer will look as a whole at what you want the site to achieve, the messages herein and how they are displayed.

Here are some points to clear up what I'm waffling on about:

  • Copy – Well written copy is a must, but also how that copy is displayed. Passive copy with the words 'We offer the perfect solution…' will get you nowhere. Calls to action and questions to the customer will get them thinking about their problems, not your waffly theoretical solution.

  • Search engine compatibility – more and more businesses are feeling the need to get well placed in Google. The best way to achieve this is to ensure your site features lots of interesting text, but formatted nicely!

  • Design – well yes, nice pretty graphic design is also important!

  Search Engine Promotion Client Spotlight

We have been carrying out search engine promotion for our long standing customer Associated Stairlifts for the past four years.

In that time their website has gone from strength to strength through the rankings in Google, peaking this month at a high of number 2 for the keyphrase 'stairlifts'. Only the mighty Stannah were positioned higher!

Associated Stairlifts have had such a success with traffic driven through the search engines to the site, they've actually cut their traditional advertising by £1000 a month!

  10% of Retail Sales Now Online

Ten per cent of all retail sales in the UK now take place online, new figures reveal.

The Internet Media Retail Group (IMRG) has released its latest index data of sales by e-retailers and found that some £80bn worth of consumer spending in this country is either conducted on or influenced by the internet.

Of this amount, £30bn is attributed to online retail spending and 'other consumer spending' accounts for a further £20bn. The remaining £30bn results from customers who use the internet to research an item before purchase or made their purchase because they saw it advertised online.

  New Projects

Etch-FX are an online retailer of window and glass etching effects. Studio 2 will be rebuilding their existing site with enhanced ordering facilities.

Millieboo is a new venture, which will be selling baby gifts online via an e-commerce website. We will be working with them to help develop their new exciting brand.

"Studio 2 were the number one choice for designing the website for Millieboo - unique baby gifts with a gift box service with an added personal touch.

I needed a company that would design a website with a clean, contemporary look and from what I have seen of their current work- I don't think I will be disappointed!!!
