Welcome to the delights of Studio 2 Online's April newsletter...

For this reason, and also for a bit of fun, we've added a new
page to the website called Our People, linked from under the Company
page.
Check it out by clicking
here. This month are our alter egos - "if we were
a cartoon character" – roll your mouse over the
images for our real mug shots!

A bold colour scheme of black and yellow was applied throughout
the site, creating a very memorable and stylish look for
site visitors. "Having
worked with Studio 2 Online on a previous successful project
(www.pyranha.com),
they were the obvious choice for designing and developing
a new website for another one of our globally important
brands. The team took the ideas from our Directors and built
a complete site which surpassed our expectations. Dealing
with a global market can be quite a challenge, but Studio2online
stepped up to the plate and built a site that is dynamic,
easy to manage and effective in communicating across international
boundaries." Tim Sadler, P&H

This
month's subject – Pay per Click. Or PPC as the professionals
like to call it.
This is the name given to the sponsored 'paid for' listings
you see in most search engines nowadays. A sure fire way
of getting right to the top of the Google tree instantly
- all you need to do is flash your wallet at the engines.
These are a great way of boosting your sales if you have
a new website that isn't ranking so well yet, or just a
'top up' to your regular listings. With over 250 million
searches performed each week in the UK, and 70% of all e-commerce
transactions originating from a search engine, it's a band
wagon well worth jumping on.
The way it works is you decide what key phrase searches
you would like to appear for. Depending on the words chosen,
each time someone performs this search and clicks on your
link you pay the Search Engine anything from 10p to £4.
But which words to choose? That's the trick.
The more general the word, the more expensive it will probably
be. This needn't be a problem however. If you are 'widget
designers' you may think the best phrase to use would be
'widgets'. But what if people searching for widgets are
looking for widget shops? You could lose money by
having people visit your site who aren't looking for your
services. 'Widget designers' is obviously a better bet then,
but what about 'widget designers Leicester'? If you show
up for that search term, you can bet your auntie the person
clicking on your link will find your site and services to
be precisely what they were looking for!
Submit lots of phrases too, it doesn't cost you anything
until you start getting the people in so add as many as
you can think of. (Remembering the guidelines above of course)
It's also worth setting up the link to your site as a 'deep
link'. Don't bother linking the user to the homepage
if they are clicking on a specific service. You know - and
they know what they are looking for (as you know what the
phrase was that they clicked on) so send them straight to
that page! Makes sense, yes? It would really help your cause
if the title and description you assign to your keyphrase
reflects this, and mentions it at least once. That way people
know you're offering exactly what they have just searched
for!
if you'd like any help or advice on this - go and ask
my friendly colleagues Giles or Lucy on 0870
837 0086In Summary:
- Get specific with your keyphrases
- Set to deep links - delivering the required
content
- Reflect your keyphrase in the title and description
of your listing

The feature ran as follows:

"We've
now had a number of members recommend Studio2online for
SEO operations. So we checked them out and they look very
pukka. (Don't say we're not trendy!)
They've joined our list now with Site-Report and RSTO
Here's the pitch from their boss, Giles Button:
"Looking to increase your online business or boost
targeted visits to your web site? Studio 2 Online are specialists
in search engine promotion and specialise in promoting e-commerce
websites. With over 5 years of knowledge and experience
in the industry, we get results. Our 12 month promotion
campaigns will get you prominent search engine positions
for your search phrases and keep you there, increasing targeted
traffic to your site. We can show you numerous instances
of our success and ability in achieving top Google positions
for highly competitive phrases." |

We'd like to thank them for their support and assure all our clients
that we won't let this taste of fame go to our heads and distract
us from the task of gaining top positions for their websites.

If
you operate an e-commerce website, this is a very real danger
that is difficult to avoid, as everything is conducted over the
web.
A website we've come across called Early Warning may be just the
thing to help stop this fraud. The service is from £5 a
month, and allows you access to a database of up-to-date known
fraudsters' personal details and addresses. Early Warnings states
that they have saved over £3,605,527.21 for their customers
so far. Something not to be ignored.
