We hope you all had a good Christmas, and
welcome you to the new monthly newsletter from Studio
2 Online Ltd.
We appreciate your time is precious, especially when it comes
to your inbox - that's why this newsletter is more than an advertising
piece, it's an invaluable update as to what's happening at Studio
2, as well as the IT industry in general today. This
is YOUR newsletter, so please let
us know what you would like to see covered in future issues.
We have taken the opportunity presented by the set-up of a
server to upgrade our web statistics package to LiveStats.
By the beginning of February, LiveStats will be up and runnng.
You will find the package as simple to use as the current
package Webstats, with much of the same functionality but
with added stability and extra features.
More information next month!
 Tired
of trawling through the spam in your inbox every morning? At
Studio 2 we are continually developing and improving our value
added services and following feedback from customers, have decided
to increase our spam protection to a more robust system. More
news on our chosen system and proposed implementation in the
coming months.

Many sites are still contravening the Anti-Spam
and Privacy Laws which came into effect in December
2003. Officially titled The Privacy and Electronic
Communications Regulations, these new laws aim to
protect customers privacy and control spam.
Two key issues which stem from the directives are:
The introduction of controls on the use of cookies
on websites. Cookies and similar tracking devices
are now subject to a new transparency requirement
- anyone that employs these kinds of devices must
provide information on them and allow subscribers
or users to refuse to accept them if they wish.
Controls on unsolicited direct marketing now include
unsolicited commercial e-mail (UCE or Spam) and SMS
to mobile telephones; The receiver is now required
to have agreed to receive the information in advance,
except in the context of an existing customer relationship,
where companies may continue to email or SMS to market
their own similar products on an 'opt-out' basis;
If you are worried your site
may contravene either of these regulations please
call Lucy on 0116 837 0055. Following an assessment
of the site we can provide a cost effective solution,
should it be necessary.

Oberoi Brothers Lighting
approached Studio 2 with a view to expanding their successful
business into an e-commerce development.
Oberoi run a very successful showroom
selling over 5000 different types of lights; from desk lamps
to outdoor wall lanterns. The next logical step was to expand
this to the web. Over 500 products have been included in
the online catalogue: all available to buy online, through
our Worldpay system.
"We are extremely pleased with the way our project
was handled and developed by Studio 2. Creating
something clean and professional was of upmost importance
to us, as instilling confidence in the customer is everything
on an ecommerce website. In only two months, Studio 2 has
achieved this. Very happy."
