New Telephone Number

Just a quick note to say we have decided to revert back to advertising our original Leicester area phone number of 0116 2425811.

As most of you will know, we have been using 0870 837 0086 for some time but felt these National Rate phone numbers had started perhaps attracting a bad name. As our first market is to Leicestershire and the surrounding regions, we decided to go back to being 'local'.

The old phone number will continue to work,
so feel free to continue using this number if you wish.

New Senior Developer

Ashley Burgess has recently joined the Studio 2 team to become our Senior Web Developer.

With 20 years experience in a variety of hardware, software, networking and programming environments, Ashley's work has taken him from Lincolnshire to New York - and back again.
In his role of senior developer, Ashley will work with the other members of the technical team to take our work in to new and exciting directions.

Case Study - Caserma Carina

Caserma Carina is the name given to a magnificent 19th century country house in Marche, Italy. Couple Lesley and Dean have completely restored it and created 4 beautiful apartments for people to stay and enjoy. Studio 2 were asked to create an identity and website for the new house to attract would-be holiday makers.

Case Study - DoBiz

DoBiz.net is a new idea that brings together clients and suppliers in an online marketplace. Clients can find high calibre freelancers and consultants to complete their projects, and suppliers can find genuine customers who need their expertise.

Sasha's Web Advice


Our regular feature in which office rogue Sasha will be offering advice, tips and lectures on anything web related that may increase your profits, gain more customers or generally make your life a little easier.

Following on from my article a couple of months ago, I'm going to continue on the theme of keyword selection for Search Engine Optimisation.

Vitally important is choosing what phrases you want to target. Think of it like this – if you were sat on the other side of the desk, what would you type into Google to find a service like yours? Some people don't think in 'real' phrases.

To give you an example, your company might sell 'Groundcare Equipment' (You can see where I'm going here). Your company may very well sell such things, but who the hell is going to type that in? "Hello shop assistant, can you point me in the direction of your groundcare equipment?" You can picture the scene at B&Q now… 'Lawnmowers' or 'Strimmers' might be a better start…

Another thing to consider, is just how popular are the phrases you are thinking of targeting? You might sell secondhand PCs – Of course, when somebody types in 'PCs' into Google, you want to be number one… but give us a break here! You have to be realistic in the phrases you wish to target. If we could get the word PCs to number one in Google, we'd probably have retired to the Bahamas by now. 'Second Hand PCs' is an accurate description of what you sell, so why not go for that? It's specific, yet broad enough to trawl in a load of web surfers.

To give you a hand with finding out how popular your phrases may be, visit this site. Typing in your phrases here will tell you how many times your phrase has been searched for in the last month, on Google.com. It is important to remember not to get carried away with aiming for the highest searches you can find. See my point above about being specific!

Case Study - LLCLP

Learning Partnerships were set up in 1999 across the country as a government initiative. They are voluntary associations of organisations involved in learning post 16. Their work is complementary to the local Learning and Skills Councils (LSC).

LLCP wanted a website creating that was flexible in allowing easy updating themselves. The new site was built in our low cost CMS system which allowed LLCP to update meeting agenda, message boards and latest news easily.
