Happy Easter from the whole team at Studio 2 Online!

Jon has over 8 years commercial experience working for a range
of clients from SMEs to large PLCs such as Cadburys. His skills
cover a variety of IT and programming fields with vast knowledge
in XML, .Net, ASP and PHP5.
With the technical team having grown in recent months, we
needed someone with Jon's wealth of experience to implement tighter
controls and help streamline the development process. Studio 2
Online would like to wish Jon a warm welcome to the team!
With Jon's joining,
we are now proud to be a team of ten people. This means
we are now ideally positioned to be large enough to cope,
but still small enough to care!
Coming soon to www.studio2online.co.uk

I
hope my lecture from last month helped many of you to understand
the importance of e-commerce design, and how it can so easily
affect whether a customer stays on your site to buy, or
leaves for Competitor X.
This month I will continue on this theme with: Buyer
Confidence. This is SO important in an e-commerce site.
Your site must paint a picture of security and reliability.
Why should Mr. Shopper give his credit card details to an
anonymous website – even if he does really like that
blow-up flamingo you're selling at half price?
It does no end of wonders by reminding the shopper as they
browse through that they are on a SECURE website, where
payments are controlled by a TRUSTED partner such as Worldpay.
If the site has accreditations from Safebuy
for example, this really adds weight to your professionalism
as a 'proper' business, not some Delboy offloading his stolen
Satellite dishes.
When a customer reaches the payment stage, this is the critical
time when he/she will assess the potential danger of trusting
you with their credit card details. Put them at ease with
a well designed, slick, secure website!
Check out one of our clients' websites www.mattress-solutions.co.uk
to get an idea of what I'm ranting on about. In Summary:
- Remind shoppers that you can be trusted
- Back this up with accreditations such as Safebuy
- Use a well known payment partner such as Worldpay
or Secpay

Research by security firm Symantec shows that 25% of the world's
remotely controlled PCs are found in Britain.
The compromised computers are being used to send spam, launch
attacks on websites and steal identities.
Symantec said the rise of broadband in Britain and user ignorance
about the dangers of the net contributed to the figure.
Nigel Beighton, director of enterprise strategy at Symantec Europe,
said the rise of zombies in the UK was due to the 93% increase
in broadband connections in the UK over the last year.
"Unfortunately, new broadband customers may not be fully
aware of the additional safety precautions that need to be taken
when using an always-on high-speed internet connection"
he said.
- Install anti-virus software
- Keep your anti-virus software up to date
- Install a personal firewall
- Use Windows updates to patch security holes
- Do not open e-mail messages that look suspicious
- Do not click on e-mail attachments you were not expecting

Their first website was a simple brochure style site,
and needed replacing with a new look and a dynamic list
of around one hundred products, including images and links
to pdf datasheets.
The majority of the site was developed in our catalogue
e-commerce
system which allowed for easy updating of products
by the client.
"Studio2 have created
a thoroughly professional site to meet and exceed our original
expectations. They have been helpful and constructive throughout
the whole development process and we have no hesitation
in recommending them to other companies."

Not surprisingly, the focus of this report is to predict
just how online shopping will continue to grow. Looking at the
chart taken from the report below, you can see the enormous climb
in spending online over the period of the last 4 years up to 2004.
The prediction is that online sales will account for 15 percent
of total spend in 2010. This equates to £40.5 billion.
