Thanks for your continued subscription to the Studio
2 Newsletter.

As
Studio 2 continues to develop leading web based applications
and software, we have decided to adopt a new piece of software
that allows our customers to provide invaluable feedback
on our systems.
We encourage our customers to use this system if they have
a request or idea for any of our web software including
CMS, forums and online course booking.
This way, your request can be looked at and dealt with in
an efficient manner: for yourself and us.

Studio
2 Online is proud to announce the phase one launch of our new
e-commerce system - shop:studio
All of our e-commerce and product catalogue based sites had previously
been developed using a third party product from Bizcrafter
called Online Store Builder. This has proven to be a powerful
and reliable system for our customers' needs, but we felt we could
develop something that would sit better with our current suite
of content management tools, and offer more flexibility in how
your site works.
If you are interested in developing an e-commerce site with secure
online credit card payments and customer account login technology,
please give the sales team a call on 0870 837 0086 to discuss
your ideas further.

High ranking search engine results
are becoming increasingly important to people, as more and
more businesses take to the web to find their fortune.
Studio
2 can of course offer in-depth search
engine promotion for your site, but if you are looking
to do something yourself, one big tip we can offer is to
try and get your site mentioned on as many other sites as
you can.
It sounds tricky, and it is time consuming, but if you can
make the effort to contact other businesses in your field
(other than competitors of course) you can create a 'link
swap' deal: They add a link on their site to you stating
you're 'the best widget sellers in the UK' and you in turn
link to them with the message 'the best widget manufacturers
in the world'. Your chance of improvement increases when
you choose sites that are related to your own. (In this
case widgets).
Generally the more links the better, but watch out for 'link
farms'. Many sites are set up solely for swapping links,
and these can actually harm your rankings if these sites
are eventually 'black-listed'.
Good luck, and Happy linking! |

We have recently launched a new version
of our CMS (contact management system) which includes a centralised
user system and an upgrade to the forum module.
The central user system links all users for cms, the forum and
other modules so users only need one username and password to
access any of the activated features of cms. This currently includes
the calendar, forum, content management system, news section,
course booking system and extranet, where they have permission
to do so. The new system also allows for the deployment of multiple
forums on one CMS web site.

Websites that function poorly could be
costing businesses up to two-thirds of their potential online
customers, according to new research.
Findings
of a study by website performance-monitoring company Site Confidence
show that Internet users are losing patience with slow sites,
with two-thirds saying they would not wait more than 20 seconds
for a site to open.
Poorly performing websites are not just losing out to impatient
shoppers. When asked what would stop them purchasing online, 78
per cent are concerned about website performance, with 57 per
cent fearing that a site would crash and 21 per cent saying the
process is too time-consuming.
There is some good news for online retailers though, with 70 per
cent of respondents saying they trust Internet security for online
payments.
"The key thing for small businesses to remember is to keep
their websites simple," says Bill Kirkwood, chief executive
officer at Site Confidence. "A complex website which is heavy
with graphics and even audio-visual content will only serve to
slow down the website and frustrate end-users. Our research has
shown that three-quarters of users will abandon a transaction
if it is too slow or links are broken.
"Essentially, having a website which is experiencing performance
problems or has crashed is like having a shop with a closed door."

Another feature to the new sofware covered
in the first story of this newsletter is its logging and tracking
of any bugs or problems a customer may encounter.
This is especially helpful to clients using our web and business
software systems as they can now simply login to the system through
a browser and notify us of any bugs and issues they would like
to see fixed in upcoming releases. The user will then be notified
by email of any updates and the status of this bug or request,
and can see its progress or login to add additional notes.
Any clients wishing to log any such issues can do this now
by going to - http://support.s2o.co.uk/websupport
and filling in the relevant information.
