Welcome to Studio 2's September round up
of company, industry and irrelevant news.

Over the past week one of Studio 2's
email servers has experienced some problems, which has resulted
in some of our clients being unable to send or receive emails
for short periods of time. We apologise whole-heartedly for this
disruption. This problem has been tracked
down to a piece of faulty hardware on this particular server,
which was quickly replaced.
Now that this problem has been fixed, we expect to resume our
normal reliable service and continue our consistent uptime of
over 99%. Should this situation arise again, rest assured that
your emails will be collected by the backup email servers and
will not be lost. If you do experience any further
email problems out of normal office hours please call our support
helpline on 0870 837 0051.

Surviving in today’s tough
business climate demands you do more with less.
Inefficient processes and delays in receiving information
cost you time and money. So why not allow Studio 2 Online to streamline
your business systems by integrating and evolving your system
structure.
Think about it; perhaps you are tired of having to enter the same
data in six different spreadsheets, maybe you have different information
recorded in three different databases which takes you two hours
to correlate each month, or you may be able to save time by automating
a manual process. Internal system problems like these can all
be tied together, minimising errors, increasing productivity and
maximising profit.
"The
time and money we have saved has paid for the system many
times over, wish we’d done it sooner. We are now talking
to Studio 2 Online
to design systems to benefit other areas of our business"

OK, it's not exactly anything to do
with Studio 2, or the internet,
but we thought you might like to try this at home/work.
Its actually a personality test, and to carry out this extremely
scientific experiment, all you need do is draw a pig. On
a piece of paper. Remember,
you MUST draw the pig first! No cheating!

As many of our customers will know,
Studio 2 has been a partner of Bizcrafter with their Online Store
Builder for some years.
The OSB system has proved to be powerful in creating dynamic product
pages, secure login and shopping cart systems, along with integration
with our preferred online payments partner Worldpay.
Studio 2 Online is now looking to expand on this by developing
our own bespoke e-commerce system, giving us the flexibility to
create a shopping cart or catalogue which is tailored specifically
for your business needs and which fully integrates with CMS, our
content management system.

The latest battles over net access speed
show just how little progress the industry has made in the last
few years.
Wanadoo,
the internet service provider formerly known as Freeserve, has
been told to change its ads by the Advertising Standards Agency
(ASA).
It seems that they cannot call their 512Kbps service "full
speed broadband" because customers might be confused into
thinking it was the fastest broadband available and buy it, even
though BT, Telewest, NTL and others offer one or two megabit services
that are a lot faster.
The broadband market is in a bit of a mess when it comes to defining
its terms.
Wanadoo, in their submission to the ASA, claimed that "the
inconsistency of terms and definitions used in the broadband market
confused consumers".
But you cannot blame Wanadoo for trying to distinguish their service
from the slower broadband offerings that are currently flooding
the market.
After all Ofcom, the people who regulate the industry, count almost
any always-on connection as broadband when they are doing their
statistics on take-up, even if it is as slow as 150kbps, and the
access providers have taken full advantage of this.
